Réveil à 6h00, toutes avaient sauté sur Laura pour lui souhaiter un très joyeux anniversaire. Avoir 22 ans en Australie ça se fête, nous avions donc décidé de lui réserver une belle surprise…

Alors qu’elle ne se doutait de rien et qu’elle pensait que nous allions reserver une journée à la barrière de corail le matin même, nous lui avions tendu une carte d’anniversaire qui annonçait tout de suite la couleur. Grâce à ses amis d’Alsace (dont je remercie infiniment de la collaboration) et une partie de nous, tout ceux ayant participé lui avait offert une journée COMPLETE. La journée débuta avec un vol d’une heure en planeur au-dessus de la barrière de corail suivi du reste de la journée à bord d’un speed boat (bateau rapide) pour diverses activités comme des ballades en bateau entre une petite partie des 77 îles au large de Airlie Beach, du snorkeling (équipé avec la combinaison et masque, palmes, tuba), une marche dans le bush sur la Whitsunday Island/ Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet, le déjeuner et pour finir un peu de rafting dans l’océan.

La journée a été organisée par GSL AVIATION. Chacune d’entre nous rêvions de voir le coeur en récif qui est très connu de la barrière de corail en Australie. Pour la journée, nous avions opté pour une journée package qui incluait un vol avec vue au-dessus des coraux et des îles ainsi qu’un tour avec Ocean Rafting. Plus précisément il incluait un vol avec un panorama sur la Grande Barrière de Corail, le coeur en corail, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet et Whitsundays Islands. Cette prestation était faite par GSL Aviation et incluait également celles de Ocean Rafting qui comprenaient un tour en bateau-rafting sur l’océan avec le snorkeling, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet le déjeuner et l’équipement de location (combinaison, palmes, masque, tuba).

Nous avions rendez-vous à 8h00 au terminal 1 de l’aéroport situé à l’adresse suivante: 12 Air Whitsunday Rd, Flametree QLD 4802. La procédure voulait que l’on arrive 30 minutes avant le départ afin d’obtenir les dernières instructions avant le vol. Une fois arrivées sur place, nous avions été agréablement accueillies par le staff. Nous avions patienté quelques instant puis quelqu’un nous a prit en charge. Après avoir fait le tris dans nos affaires (entre caméra, portable, appareil photos et le reste dont nous avions pas besoin à bord et que nous laissions donc sous la surveillance de l’équipe GSL Aviation) nous nous sommes dirigées vers l’avion que nous allions prendre. Avant d’embarquer, notre pilote nous a donné quelques conseils de sécurité en nous montrant en premier lieu l’utilisation du gilet de sauvetage que nous avions sur nous pendant tout le long du trajet. Puis il nous a placé et j’ai eu la chance d’être devant "aux commandes », installée à côté du pilote. Enfin les commandes j’ai pu simplement les toucher du regard, de toute manière, tout ça m’avait l’air bien trop compliqué… Puis, il nous expliqua tout ce que nous allions voir et comment le vol allait se passer. Il nous rassura même en nous prévenant qu’il y aura peut être quelques petites secousses (mais finalement je n’ai rien senti). L’avion était sur le tarmac prêt à décoller. Un, deux, trois, c’est parti nous étions déjà dans les airs. Tout doucement nous survolions Airlie Beach, puis petit à petit les îles avoisinantes. Minutes après minutes, nous découvrions de nouvelles îles dont la très célèbre Hamilton Island et Whitsunday Island - très jolie vue du ciel. Sur plusieurs kilomètres, nous survolions le bleu de l’océan jusqu’à atteindre la très connue barrière de corail, un rêve. En dessous de nous, de fabuleuses nuances de bleus. Ce que je voyais sur les cartes postales a prit vie pendant des fractions de secondes. Et évidement, mon coup de coeur - et c’est le cas de le dire - était là, droit devant moi: le coeur en corail. Encore plus beau en vrai, je vous promets. puis déjà il était temps de retourner sur la terre ferme, profiter des derniers instants dans les airs et en prendre plein la vue du haut du ciel. Le vol a été agrémenté d’informations intéressantes -ni trop, ni pas assez- sur la région, le vol, les îles et sur tout ce que l’on pouvait apercevoir. Une fois l’atterrissage accompli, nous prenions de dernières photos avec le pilote et l’avion puis il fallait déjà regagner la navette qui nous conduisit pour la seconde partie de la journée.

En arrivant, nous avions été prit en charge pas OCEAN RAFTING. Nous nous sommes inscrit puis nous avions été invitées à essayer nos combinaisons pour le snorkeling. En patientant d’embarquer sur les speed boat, il y avait à disposition du café, thé et chocolat chaud. Puis les membres du staff nous appelaient en fonction du package que nous avions choisi. En extra, nous avions choisi de prendre le pack avec photos et vidéos de la journée. Pour notre part, nous avions choisi le plus complet. A l’appel de notre groupe, nous montions a bord du speed boat sur lequel nous allions passer une bonne partie de la journée. Au fur et à mesure que nous quittions la côte, le bateau pris de la vitesse et avait à bord de la musique. La membre de l’équipage qui allait être notre guide est venue vers nous pour prendre quelques informations et nous expliquer qu’elle nous filmerait et qu’elle prendrait des photos tout au long de la journée - ceci nous a été rendu en montage sur clé USB le jour d’après. Notre premier stop était le point de snorkeling. Nous nous étions donc tous équipé de notre combinaison, d’un masque, de palmes et d’un tuba avant de nous jeter à l’eau. La visibilité n’était pas parfaite ce jour là, mais nous avions quand même pu apercevoir de beaux coraux colorés ainsi que de magnifiques poissons. J’étais comme une enfant face aux merveilles qui se trouvaient devant moi.

Notre second arrêt était celui à Whitsunday Island, où nous avions fait une petite marche dans la foret jusqu’au point de vue sur Whitehaven Beach. C’était magnifique à voir. Il y avait un très joli contraste entre le balayage du sable blanc et le bleu turquoise de l’eau. Après quelques clichés, nous avions eu la chance de marcher sur la plage et rejoindre notre bateau qui nous emmena pour notre déjeuner à notre destination final: Hill Inlet. Nous avions passé le reste de l’après-midi sur la plage de l’île à déjeuner, se baigner et prendre un bain de soleil dans un cadre paradisiaque. Puis en milieu d’après-midi, nous avions regagné la terre ferme en terminant par un peu de rafting sur l’océan. 

The day was organized by GSL Aviation. Each of us dreamed to see the heart reef which is famous in the great barrier reef in Australia. For the day, we opted for a day package which included a scenic flight over the coral and islands plus a tour with Ocean Rafting. Specifically it included a flight with a panoramic view of the Great Barrier Reef, heart reef, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Whitsundays Islands. This service was made ​​by GSL Aviation and also included those by Ocean Rafting which included a boat-rafting on the ocean with snorkeling, Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet lunch and rental equipment (wetsuit, find mask, tuba).

We had an appointment at 8:00 am at Terminal 1 of the airport located at the following address: 12 Air Whitsunday Rd, QLD 4802 Flametree. We had to arrive 30 minutes before departure in order to get the latest instructions before the flight. Once we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by the staff. We waited a few moments then someone took charge of us. After sorting through our things (camera, laptop, camera and the rest we did not need on board and so we kept under the supervision of the GSL Aviation team) we headed towards the plane that we would take. Before boarding, our driver gave us some safety tips showing us first use of lifejackets we had on us during the whole way. Then he gave to each of us our seat and I had the chance to be in front (on the commands) next to the driver. Finally I could just touch the commands with my eyes, anyway, it seemed too complicated for me (haha)... Then he explained to us what we were going to see and how the flight would be. He reassured by warning us that there may be a few shocks (but I felt nothing). The plane was on the tarmac ready to take off. One, two, three... here we go ! We were already in the air. Slowly we flew over Airlie Beach, then gradually the neighboring islands. Minutes after minutes, we discovered new islands including the famous Hamilton Island and Whitsunday Island -. lovely view from the sky. For several kilometers, we were flying over the blue of the ocean to reach the famous great barrier reef - a dream. Under. us, fabulous shades of blue. What I saw on postcards took a life for a few moments. And of course, my favorite was there, right in front of me: the heart reef. Even more beautiful in reality, I promise. Then it was already time to go back on land, enjoy the last moments in the air and take full view from heaven. The flight was embellished with interesting information - neither too much nor too little - about the area, the islands and all that could be seen. Once we landed, we took  pictures with the pilot and the aircraft, then it was already time to return to the shuttle bus which took us to the second part of the day. 

Once we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted by Ocean Rafting. We registered and we were invited to try our wetsuits for the snorkeling. By waiting to board the speed boat, there was provision of coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Then members of the staff called us according to the package we chose. By paying an extra, we chose to take the pack with pictures and videos of the day. We chose the most complete. At the call of our group, we went aboard on the speed boat where we spent a good part of the day. As we left the coast, the boat started to be faster and put on board some music. The crew member, who has been our guide, came to us in order to get some information and we explain that she would film us and take pictures throughout the day - this was given on a final USB stick the following day. Our first stop was the snorkeling spot. We were therefore equipped with our wetsuits, mask, fins and snorkel before we jumped in the water. The visibility was not great that day, but we were still able to see beautiful colorful fish and beautiful corals. I was like a child in front of the wonders that were right under me. Our second stop was the Whitsunday Island, where we had a short walk through the forest to the point of view of Whitehaven Beach. It was beautiful to see. There was a very nice contrast between the scanning white sand and turquoise water. After a few shots, we had the chance to walk on the beach and join our boat which took us for lunch at our final destination: Hill Inlet. We spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach of the island for lunch, swim and had a sunbath in a tropical paradise. Then in mid-afternoon, we returned to the mainland ending with a bit of rafting on the ocean.

Au final, c’était une journée remplie d’aventures, de découverte et d’amusement. Nous avion vraiment apprécié cette journée du début à la fin. La soirée nous l’avion passé autour d’un BBQ, à Airlie Beach, juste à côté du lagon, histoire de finir la journée en beauté. Il faut se l’avouer, qui n’aurait pas rêvé d’un tel anniversaire ?
